Stimulation of Civil Participation in Protection of Human Rights and Approach to Justice in BiH

The program of approach to justice presents continuation of activities of civil initiative called “Network of Support to the Court of BiH“ which opened possibility for inclusion of women and men citizens into incoming sector reforms of justice and public administration in BiH. 

The initiative started in 2005 in order to present to public the overall review of achievements in process of transition of justice, but at the same time to point out the obstacles for efficient realization of justice, truth and reconciliation.

Guided with a need for provision of information about the Court, the Prosecutor’s Office, Department of Criminal Justice and the Office of the Registrar and intention to make these institutions closer to citizens, the Network made first steps towards trust and collaboration between citizens and institutions in articulation of justice and politics of justice.

The Network of Support to the Court of BiH was established by: Association Žene Ženama- Sarajevo, Centers of civil initiatives- Mostar, Izvor- Prijedor, Helsinki Committee for Human Rights Republic of Srpska- Bijeljina and Referent Group- Tuzla, with support of the Office of the Registrar of the Court of BiH.

Relation towards justice and politics of justice in BiH is not simple or single meaning.

It is still based on articulation of ideologically confronted positions instead of being clear personal attitude in relation to multiple meanings of the idea of transition of justice. Articulation of justice and politics of justice is long term process which requires long term commitment, enthusiasm and support from all those who will deal with issue of transition of justice, first of all from NGOs, media, institutions of justice in BiH and the international community.

This project, which is aimed to stimulate civil participation in protection of human rights through forums for exchange of opinions meant to offer all necessary information about institutional organization of BiH, legal system, human rights and democracy, involved big number of experts in area of law and public administration. Sensitivity raising and trainings as basic parts of the program will be used for spreading information and enhancing participation of citizens in area of protection of human rights through civil platforms.
